Namaskar

With this Sanskrit word we conclude the practice of yoga asanas, meditation and express appreciation for each one present.

This beautiful greeting is used with hand gesture and movements called mudras. Folded hands in praying gesture of welcoming are called Anjali mudra or seal of respect.

First you bring the palms together and with your thumbs you touch the point in between two eyebrows where is Ajina Chakra or Third Eye, considered as the seat of mind. During that action, you say to yourself mentally, With all the charms of my mind.

Soon after, you bring the thumbs down to touch the center of your chest where is the Anahata Chakra or Heart Chakra, and say to yourself mentally, With all the love of my heart.

Then, you speak out, Namaskar, at the same time ideating on the meaning, I salute the divine being in you.

So, Namaskar along with the described mudra means, With all the charms of my mind and with all the love of my heart I salute the divine being in you.
